Transformed Teacher
A core focus of AFCI’s ministry around the world is providing training for the church. In fact, AFCI was originally founded in the 1940s in order to train and equip strong leaders for the church in Australia. This vision has spread beyond Australia’s borders. Today, for example, AFCI’s Faith Institute in South Sudan is dedicated to producing men and women who are thoroughly trained to be the future leaders of the church in their nation.
One such leader is Khamisa.
Two years ago, Khamisa’s husband passed away leaving her to care for her two young children alone. Rather than allowing herself to become overwhelmed with the situation, she decided to enroll in the Faith Institute to study the Word of God.
An essential part of the training at the Faith Institute is providing students a means of putting into practice what they are learning in the classroom or through distance learning. This hands-on practical work gives real world experience, preparing students for effective ministry as soon as they graduate.
Khamisa was initially concerned about the practical field work. However, to her surprise, she discovered her gift and began teaching classes for children. Her passion for a teaching ministry grew and now she has dedicated herself wholeheartedly to serving God by ministering to children in her local church and neighborhood. She is currently teaching 25-35 children twice a week in her home. Seeing how the Lord has blessed her ministry, Khamisa is now praying that the Lord will provide 50 chairs so that she can reach even more children with the Gospel as they sit comfortably in her home.
Despite many challenges, Khamisa’s training from the Faith Institute has not only transformed her own life, but also the lives of the children in her community.
