Open Doors, Open Hearts
About four months ago, the AFCI Philippines team, locally known as Activate Ministry, Inc., began praying for an opportunity for personal evangelism. Usually focusing on training and equipping others for ministry, they felt the need to step outside the classroom and become reengaged in disciple making themselves.
They partnered with a 4-year-old local church to bring the Gospel to a village about 106 kilometers outside Manila at Balayan, Batangas City. The outcome surprised everyone.
The village had no church, so the team prayed and searched for a “person of peace” – someone open to the Gospel and respected in the village who would help them make connections within the community. They found a woman who gladly welcomed the team into her home. She invited her neighbors to attend a Bible study and several families filled her house. Mel Dianga, the AFCI Philippines National Director, shared the Gospel and challenged them to open their hearts to Jesus.
At the end of the meeting, everyone who attended the study prayed to become a follower of Jesus. Whole families experienced the power of the Gospel.
Mel said,
“Indeed, the Lord is good! He opened the doors for the Gospel and opened the hearts of those who were present.”
Before they left, the AFCI Philippines team began laying the groundwork for a new church to be planted in the village.
