Sorrow and grief are part of life. No one is exempt from suffering and tragedy in one form or another.

In 2022, Veral Blake, AFCI National Director for St Vincent and the Grenadines, lost his wife of fifty years and his adult son to cancer within the span of thirty days. Several months after his overwhelming loss, Veral wrote:

“Obviously I was devastated and the situation took a heavy toll on me. It was difficult to function normally but thanks to the prayers, support, and encouragement of many of you as well as members of the body of Christ … I am refreshed, renewed, and reinvigorated.

“There are many who called and assumed that because I am a preacher I should be able to sustain myself in the situation. I reminded them that preachers are human beings with emotions. I can only be strong in the Lord and the power of His might, not mine.”
