Easter Rally in Nigeria
On Palm Sunday, leaders and members of more than 92 Christian churches gathered together in an Easter rally in streets of Ilorin, Nigeria.
Palm Sunday is the commemoration of the day Jesus entered Jerusalem the week before his crucifixion. It is the beginning of the Easter season for Christians around the world. Believers from all the Christian denominations in Ilorin walked through the streets together to demonstrate their common faith in Christ. They were joined by several government leaders and commissioners who walked at the front of the rally singing praise and worship songs.
The AFCI Nigeria team, led by Samson Olushola, calls events like this “Presence Evangelism.” It is an opportunity for the community to see believers from many churches come together, lay aside their differences, and proclaim the message of Christ crucified, buried, and risen again.
As Samson says, “This Easter season this year was a great challenging one – God made his presence and power known within the main streets of the Ilorin township.”
